This image taken by my Dad, is of Mum putting on her lippy1, at a family day out. I am on the right, roughly 21/2 to 3 years old2 and my two brothers are inside the sidecar reading comics.
At that time we were living in South Yorkshire, our birthplace. Mostly all of my relatives still live in the South Yorkshire area, but as I have been researching my ancestry3 of late, it appears a lot of them in the 1800’s had emigrated to places in Canada, America, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Probably not on motorcycles though!
I have been trying to ascertain which motorcycle Dad had at the time of this image. Looking through the rear window of the sidecar, it looks like it might have been a triumph. He also had an Aerial Square Four 1000cc, but I am unsure what that bike tank looked like. If you recognise it, let me know in the comments.
One thing I do know and am quite proud of is that we all seem to love motorcycles in my family, past and present. I’ll post some more “Blast from the Past” images, sometime soon if you would like, let me know in the comments.
Peace be with you.
